T-Cancer

I just want people to know about the things that are currently happening in my life. In January I went into the doctor's office thinking I had strep throat or something because I hadn't been able to recover from a cold. While I was visiting with the doctor she noticed my neck was swollen and so she felt it and realized that my thyroid was enlarged, she suggested that we do blood work to see what was going on.

The results on it came back as to be in the normal range, so we decided to press on to do an ultrasound of the thyroid because SOMETHING was going on. When we received those results there were two hard nodules and one cyst, all in different locations. According to statistics this should not be concerning. My doctor had talked with another doctor and they suggested we check back in on them in six months. As I got off the phone I just felt sick inside and knew I needed to see someone else for a second opinion. As I thought that my doctor had called me back and told me I should do that too. She told me that I should go to an ENT (Ears, Nose, Throat) Specialist.

I went to one and he decided I needed to get the two harder nodules biopsied. I got both hard nodules biopsied one located on the right lobe of the thyroid and the other on the left lobe of the thyroid. Both resulted in the news of being malignant (cancer). This is a rare find for my age and having multiple nodules on the thyroid. Now I have been diagnosed with Papillary Thyroid Cancer.

Follow-up

So today I got to finally meet with my doctor after the radiation treatment. They took my blood work last week on Thursday and today I got the results. I found out that my T3, T4, and TSH are all in normal range. I'm taking a synthroid to help my body level without a thyroid. Things are looking good, I've still been experiencing fatigue, headaches, and aches and pains all over. My doctor advises that those symptoms are from my body trying to recovery from all the things that I've just put it through. Also with the radiation and the hot summer days my body is being dehydrated and that I need to drink LOTS of water. I know that if I drink more and do as the doctor directs I will be feeling better.

Life is good and the Lord is ever aware of me and He's taking good care of me and helping me through all these struggles. Yes, this has been tough but not impossible to deal with. I know that I can do anything with the Savior and all physical ailments are and will be for a small moment.

I was watching the Joseph Smith movie and there was a moment when he was in Liberty jail and as these words were spoken I felt that they were for me to hear:
"My son, peace be unto thy soul; thine adversity and thine afflictions shall be but a small moment; And then, if  thou endure it well, God shall exalt thee on high; thou shall triumph over all thy foes." Doctrine and Covenants 121:7-8

What a promise that we will be exalted and live with our Father in Heaven. The Lord is telling us in our world of trials and hard ships we shall have peace. He's asked us to have faith in Him and with the faith we may find the peace to carry us through this mortal existence. In our moment of hardship faith in God will bring us peace and they will be but a small moment. I am so grateful for the many prayers on my behalf.

I love you all!
